The Balm x Mary-Lou Manizer

Obsessed. I use it every single day. "Screw contouring, as long as I have my high lighter" is what it's come to. I don't know why I waited this long to get it (well, other than perhaps having enough make up to last me a lifetime). I finally caved in when I could argue that I could get it at a discount and that all of my high lighters have a pink undertone and most of them are liquid. It amazes me how good I've become at convincing myself. But in this case I really don't regret it! The product lived up to all of my expectations and exceeded them!

I'm talking The Balm's high lighter/luminiser: Mary-Lou Manizer. It's this gorgeous compact with the most lush shade of light gold. Ever. It reminds me of a halo. I dare say that it's a passable shade for all skin tones, ranging from deep to very fair. It looks natural and fakes a super healthy complexion. The pigmentation is to die for, no cringe-worthy heavy swatches is needed; you barely have to touch the product with your fingers or preferred weapon of use- brushes, ladies, brushes. Keep it civil- to be able to swipe a piece of heaven across your face. How brilliant is that. I'm very, very impressed. You can see the pigmentation on a picture below, comparing a heavy and light swatch next to one another.

The packaging is awesome too, as is all packaging from The Balm. The word play, pictures and concept of each of their make up products are well thought through. Also, Matt(e) can finally have some company in my make up bag haha.
I did read and hear that the powder is likely to break if you bring this baby along with you in your bag, which really doesn't surprise me, as it is super finely milled. It hasn't happened for me (yet!) but just be aware of this factor. Other than that, the compact is nice. It's fun to look at, it's sleek enough for my liking and the mirror is a nice finishing touch.

I'd recommend this to heaven and Earth. It's so affordable too. And really, if I had known I'd be this fond of it, I would definitely have picked it up at full price!

I Try

There is no excuse. And it's actually quite fun. I'm glad I insisted on starting. I've really been trying to go as much as possible, also on days when I have to go to work. I'm kind of proud of myself haha! Let's hope to see some results, yeah? Oh, and the card looks so boss.

What Went Down

"There is a story about the Greek gods. They were bored, so they invented human beings; but they were still bored, so they invented love. Then they weren't bored any longer, and they decided to try love for themselves. And finally they invented laughter, so they could stand it."

Two-in-One

As most girls (and guys) that are in love with fashion and beauty, I wear polishes most the time. The main thing that sets me apart form my fellow nail polishers is that I wear it as a protective shield rather than a fashion statement haha. My job requires subjecting my poor finger tips to stress many hours at a time and as a result they flake and break on me- and I consider myself having very thick and durable nails! Alas, but such is life. I'm interested in keeping my nails healthier whilst sporting all the shades under the sun, but I just can't be be bothered using 193 products every single time I paint my tips; that's why this product is super handy dandy for one as I.

It's Sally Hansen's Diamond Shine Base & Top Coat which ensures a protective layer between my naked nails and the harsh colours I put on top. Very ideal for me as I like dark hues of purple, blue, and red which are all colours that tend towards discolouring your poor nails. It being a top coat as well is a plus as it lessens the drying time and extends the life of the polish by keeping chipping and other disasters afar.

This product is nice, but not ah-maaazing. It's beauty on a budget that does its job. the packaging is fun and the silver makes it easy to spot in the vast sea of bottles in my drawer. I would definitely recommend it (as have happened) but I think my lack of enthusiasm stems from me severely lacking knowledge when it comes to nail products and beauty alike, rather than any short comings this products may have. I just like painting my nails.

Bleh

This is my usual summer tinted moisturizer. Granted that it is applied on the inner part of my flesh where I'm a shade or two lighter than the side that faces the sun, my camera somehow didn't pick up on the major difference that was so disappointingly obvious in real life. The "comparison" kind of signifies how little time I've spent out in the wild and how much time I've dedicated to my work. Saving up sucks.

The Tunnel - Minimalist Necklace

Was out shopping a couple of weeks ago and as soon as I saw this piece I had to get it! It's a gorgeous necklace that will flatter almost all oufits (at least in my wardrobe!) I've been wearing it a little too often than I dare admit since then. It's just so easy to put on, and it gives you a "I tried, but not too hard" air.

I thinks it's the simplicity and the dark metal that made me cave in- finally a piece of jewelry that matches my beloved Skagen ring! The chain is so unique and is a nice detail. Luckily it wasn't too pricey, which is brilliant. I don't have the resources to mend a broken wallet. It was purchased at Message, by the brand Rosie and Roses.
